Volleyball Heads to Miami and Florida State for ACC Swing

UofL is 13-5 and 7-1 in the ACC
Following a successful homestand that saw the Cardinals beat both Clemson and Georgia Tech 3-0, the University of Louisville volleyball team heads south for a pair of matches at Miami and Florida State. UofL will play the Hurricanes on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. and the Seminoles on Oct. 22, at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals (13-5, 7-1 ACC) are on a bit of a roll with six straight conference wins leading into the weekend. Â The last streak of 5+ wins was in Nov. 1-25 when the Cards won seven matches in a row en route to the ACC Championship in 2015.Â
Sophomore outside hitter Megan Sloan's season-high eight kills helped power the Cards to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 victory over Clemson at Cardinal Arena. With their fifth-consecutive home win, the Cardinals notched their seventh shutout of the season.

"Megan Sloan has had a great year of practice so far," said coach Dani Busboom Kelly. "So, it was really great to get her an opportunity to play a whole match. She did a great job and was our most effective hitter. We see her do it every day in practice, so we are so happy the fans got to see her play tonight."

Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Amanda Green led all players with nine kills, while sophomore outside hitter Melanie McHenry and senior middle blocker Maggie DeJong each racked up six kills for the day. As a team, the Cards hit a solid .310, while containing the Tigers to just a .013 mark. Clemson drops to 5-14 and 0-7 in the ACC.

Florida State
 The Florida State Seminoles comes into the weekend with an overall record of 11-5 and are 5-3 in the ACC. Coach Chris Poole's Seminoles are coming off 3-1 victories over Wake Forest and Duke last weekend. Florida State currently sits at seventh in the ACC. They currently are fourth in the ACC with a hitting percentage of .234. They will play Notre Dame Friday, Oct. 20 prior to the matchup with the Cards. The Seminoles are led by senior outside hitter Milica Kubura with 232 kills, a 3.80 kills per set average and 67 blocks. Senior libero Cecilie Woie leads the Seminoles on the defensive end with 273 digs.

The Miami Hurricanes sport an overall record of 11-3 and a conference mark of 5-3. The Hurricanes bounced back after dropping three straight conference games with wins over Pittsburgh and Duke this weekend. Senior outside hitter Olga Strantzali leads the Hurricanes with 253 kills and currently leads the ACC with a 4.57 kills per set average. Redshirt-senior setter Haley Templeton was named ACC Player of the week last week after tallying a career-best 61 assists in Miami's 3-2 win over Duke. She racked up 92 total assists, nine kills, a hitting percentage of .500, 23 digs, four total blocks and two service aces over the two matches.Â
