Cards join deep field in three-day, 54-hole event
The three-day, 54-hole event will open on Friday, Oct. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at Blackthorn Club at The Ridges, followed by Saturday's second round at the same time, starting on hole No. 1. Tee times and pairings for Sunday's round will be released after Saturday's action. The Blackthorn Club course features a par-72, 7,147-yard layout.
In addition to hosting No. 46 Louisville, the field also includes No. 5 Missouri, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 17 Kent State, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Kansas State, Penn State, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Villanova, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The individual field will feature six players currently ranked in top-100 Golfweek rankings.
The Cardinals' tournament lineup is comprised of junior Simon Zach, freshman Matthias Schmid, junior Keegan de Lange, senior Nicolas Platret and sophomore John Murphy. Senior Erik Dulik will be playing as an individual.
The Cardinals will look to carry over the strong momentum from their team victory two weeks ago at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge. Louisville finished the event at 9-under, posting the only team score under par and placing 11 strokes ahead of Miami (Ohio). Dulik finished second on the individual leaderboard, shooting 7-under with a tournament score of 68-70-71. Four additional Cardinals placed in the top 11, including under par scores from Zach and Platret.
This year's entry at the Intercollegiate will mark Louisville's third consecutive appearance in the event. After a second-place finish in 2015, the Cardinals settled for ninth position last year, led by Zach's top-25 finish.
