Will Oakley Joins the Louisville Lacrosse Staff

Oakley will serve as the volunteer assistant for the 2017 season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Head Coach Kellie Young announced the hiring of Will Oakley to the University of Louisville women's lacrosse team as a volunteer assistant for the 2017 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Will and his family to the Louisville Lacrosse family," said Young. "Will's depth of experience in both the men's and women's game will be an asset to both our offensive strategies and use of the new shot clock in women's lacrosse."
Oakley spent the last three seasons as the head coach of the Virginia Commonwealth University men's lacrosse team. Last season he led them to a Top 20 ranking and tied the record for the most wins since 2007.
Prior to his stint at Virginia Commonwealth, Oakley was the head coach at the University of Dallas, a NCAA Division III school in Irving, Texas, from 2008 to 2012. There he tied the school record for wins in a season and set the record for wins in a career by a coach.
Oakley also spent two seasons as the head coach of the Georgia Tech women's lacrosse team while they competed on the WCLA D1 circuit. Oakley coached the Yellow Jackets to the best conference finish in school history and the first Top 20 WCLA ranking. He was also named the Southeastern Women's Lacrosse League Coach of the Year.
As a player, Oakley played at Georgia Tech is a two-time MCLA All-American and a four-time SELC All-Conference selection. He was named the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2004.
