Stephanie McNamara and Brittany Read Earn Preseason Honors

McNamara earns third team honors while Read earns honorable mention honors
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team had two players selected to the 2017 Face-Off Yearbook Preseason All-America list. Senior defender Stephanie McNamara was named to the third team while junior goalkeeper Brittany Read earned honorable mention honors.Â
McNamara is a team captain and a three-year starter for the Cardinals. She has helped anchor the Cardinals defense and helped record the first shutout in school history her sophomore season. Last year she helped the defense keep 12 opponents in single-digit scoring. She finished second on the team with 17 caused turnovers.
Read started in goal for the Cardinals last season, missing the final four games with an injury. She finished the year with 106 saves and a 12-2 record.  Read finished the year with a 7.09 goals against average and picked up 22 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Â
The Cardinals will open up the 2017 season at home on Feb. 4 as they host Vermont at 1:00 p.m. in the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Â
