Cardinals pick up wins against Vanderbilt and Kennesaw State
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team started the fall season with two wins on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.  The Cardinals defeated Vanderbilt 7-3 and Kennesaw State 8-4.
"We are incorporating a strong first year class with a talented veteran pool," said head coach Kellie Young. "Today was a solid showing of balance and execution across the board."
In the Vanderbilt game the Cardinals continued to have success controlling the draw, despite the loss of Kaylin Morissette to graduation. They were able to manage the new shot clock well and converted it into seven goals. The Cardinals also had a solid defensive effort, playing with some newcomers on the field.Â
In the Kennesaw State game, the Cardinals were able to control the draw once the nerves settled down. The defense was able to manage the scoring runs by the opponent. As the game went on the defense was able to apply more pressure. The Louisville offense was able to get a lot of ball movement for a solid performance.
Overall, the Cardinals were able to get everyone in the game and saw great promise as the Cardinals prepare for the upcoming season.
Louisville will be back in action next weekend as they host a four team tournament.Â
