Volleyball Heads to Bowling Green State for Season Opener

Cards begin 2016 campaign on the road
The University of Louisville women's volleyball team will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to kick off the season at the Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational August 26-27. The tournament features the Horizon League's Oakland University, A-10 foe Virginia Commonwealth (VCU), and Bowling Green State University from the MAC.

The Cardinals will play three matches starting on Friday, August 26Â at 10 a.m. against the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland and will then take on the Rams of VCU at 4:30 p.m. Louisville will conclude the Invitational when they take on the host Falcons on Saturday, August 27th at 2 p.m.

In 2015, Oakland put together an 18-13 season and were 12-4 in conference play, where they fell 3-1 in the Horizon League Tournament Championship to Valparaiso. VCU had a 14-17 season in 2015, going 8-6 in conference, falling to George Washington University in the opening round of the A-10 tournament. BGSU is coming off a 7-22 season lat year and were 3-13 conference.

 "Our non-conference is coupled nicely with ACC matches as we prepare to defend our title and put ourselves in a great position to fight for a strong RPI." said Anne Kordes, UofL head coach and 2015 ACC Coach of the Year.

The Cardinals will look to 2015 ACC Defensive and Freshman Player of the Year Molly Sauer, and 2016 ACC Preseason team selectees Janelle Jenkins, Tess Clark, and Sauer as they begin the defense of their ACC Championship title.
