
Kaylin Morissette Named a Tewaaraton Nominee

Morissette is one of the top 25 players named to the list
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 25 women's nominees for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour. Â Louisville's Kaylin Morissette was among the 25 nominees released on Friday evening.Â
"We congratulate these elite student-athletes on their remarkable accomplishments thus far this season," said Jeff Harvey, chairman of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "With the help of our selection committees, we look forward to announcing this year's finalists next month."
Morissette leads the way for the Cardinals with 54 points, scoring 36 goals and adding 18 assists. She is second in the nation with 149 draw controls, averaging 8.94 draws a game. She also leads the team in ground balls with 34 on the year. Morissette has scored seven hat tricks this season and scored two game-winning goals for the Cardinals. She holds the school record with 567 draw controls and has 166 career goals.
The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
Five women's finalists will be selected from the group of 25, announced on Thursday, May 12, and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 2 in Washington, D.C., at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
This year's initial Watch Lists were announced on Feb. 23 and included the top 50 men's and women's college lacrosse players in the country. Two rounds of additions to the Watch Lists were announced on March 17 and April 7.
