Track and Field Concludes Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational with Two Multi-Events Wins

Eric Fox and Holly Hankenson set new school marks in the decathlon and heptathlon
LOUISVILLE, KY. — The Louisville track and field team wrapped up the multi-events competition at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational with wins in the heptathlon and the decathlon on Sunday afternoon. Holly Hankenson won the heptathlon with a new school record of 5,333 points. Eric Fox won the decathlon with a new school record of 7,032 points.
In the first event of the day, Cody Swabek won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.51. Fox finished second with a personal best time of 15.76 in the 110m hurdles. Fox finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 35.31m/115-10. Swabek finished third with a throw of 33.50m/109-11.
Fox won the pole vault with a mark of 4.80m/15-09.00 while Swabek finished third with a season best mark of 4.00m/13-01.50. Fox also won the javelin with a season best throw of 49.35m/161-11. Swabek finished second with a throw of 44.37m/145-07.
In the final event of the day, Fox won the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:42.69. Swabek finished third with a season best time of 5:18.11. Fox won the decathlon with a new school record total of 7,032 points. Swabek finished third in his first career decathlon with a total of 6,231 points.
In the first event of the women's heptathlon, Hankenson won the long jump with a new personal best mark of 5.97m/19-07.00. Mutter finished second with jump of 5.55m/18-02.50. In the javelin throw, Mutter threw a personal best mark of 39.13m/128-04 to finish second. Hankenson finished fifth with a personal best throw of 28.57m/93-09.
Hankenson won the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 2:15.10 to secure the win. Mutter finished second in the event with a time of 2:23.68. Hankenson won her first career heptathlon with a score of 5,333 points. Mutter finished second with a score of 5,133. Both athletes broke the previous school record of 5,038 set by Mutter last season.
The Cardinals will be back in action April 30 as they compete in the Memphis Invite.
