Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at the Memphis Tiger Invitational

Cardinals finish with 12 top three finishes and one win
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Louisville track and field team finished the day with 12 top three finishes and a win in the men's 5000m at the Memphis Tiger Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Ernest Kibet won the men's 5000m run with an outdoor personal best time of 14:23.52 to lead Louisville with the top four finishers. Senior Japhet Kipkoech also ran a personal best time of 14:24.39 to finish second. Calvin Chemoiywo finished third with a personal best time of 14:24.42 while George Yator finished fourth with a season best time of 14:26.17.
Oliver Newport finished second in the men's long jump with a season best jump of 7.48m/24-6.50. Bre'Yana Wash also finished second in the women's long jump with a 6.20m/20-4.25. Freshman Martice Moore finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.31, just shy of his personal best.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Andrew Nsuk, Carlos Coleman, Josh Hall, and Antoine Keys finished second with a time of 3:12.28.
Rachel Pease finished second in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:22.44 while Abigail Wright finished fourth with a time of 11:25.30. On the men's side, Matt Stephenson finished fourth with a time of 9:37.21.
The Cardinals had two third place finishes in the 1500m run. Mia Ross finished third with a time of 4:35.03 and Jonathan Reynolds finished third on the men's side with a time of 3:53.27.
Brianne Brown finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.96. Teague Peck finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:50.06.
Other highlights include a fourth place finish by freshman Raven Grant in the 100m with a time of 11.76. Sydney Hill finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.23. Codie Hamsley finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 50.60m/166-00.
The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season next weekend at the Rankin/Poehlein 4-Way Invite hosted by Purdue.
