
Men's Tennis Wraps up the Regular Season this Weekend

Cards play host to Belmont and Boston College on Friday and No. 7 Wake Forest on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team will play host to Belmont at 10 a.m. and Boston College at 4 p.m. in a doubleheader on Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards will wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they play host to No. 7 Wake Forest. Louisville will honor seniors Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet prior to the match.

"This is an important weekend for us," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We need to step up and play to our potential. Friday will be a big test and it will challenge our stamina and depth of our roster. Sunday is an opportunity against a team who is a contender for the national championship.

About Louisville: Louisville enters the weekend with a12-15 overall record.

• The Cardinals are coming off of a 5-2 loss at Miami last Sunday. Louisville got doubles wins from the tandem of senior Jeffrey Brown and Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff at No. 2 and junior Sean Donohue and sophomore Courtney Lock at No. 3 to take the first point of the match. Freshman Brandon Lancaster picked up a singles win at No. 4.

• Lancaster leads the team with a 22-11 overall record in singles and a 9-8 mark in dual matches playing mostly at No. 4. Senior Alex Gornet carries a 20-19 overall record with six victories at No. 1. Fellow senior Jeffrey Brown has a team-best 10 dual match wins playing mostly at Nos. 3 and 4.

• The doubles team of junior Sean Donohue and sophomore Courtney Lock carry a 15-6 overall record and a 12-3 mark at Louisville's No. 3 team. The senior duo of Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet has 12 wins on the season.

• Lancaster has won three of his last four singles matches. Donohue and Lock have registered victories in their last three matches.

• Lock became Louisville's first ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week on January 19.

Belmont carries an 8-9 record prior to a Thursday match against OVC opponent Tennessee State. Last weekend, the Bruins snapped a three-match win streak when they fell 4-3 to Austin Peay. Prior to that, Belmont picked up conference wins over Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and Murray State.
• Cedric Dujacquier leads the team with a 15-10 overall record and an 11-5 mark at No. 1 singles. Dujacquier and Robin Demasse have a 3-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Seniors Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet, have been an integral part of Louisville's success throughout their careers. Each have made significant contributions in both singles and doubles, helping  the Cards to 71 wins as a class, two NCAA Regional appearances and a top 25 ranking reaching as high as No. 23 in the nation in 2015. They helped pave the way as Cardinals moved to the ACC, posting a 7-5 league record including an upset of No. 10 North Carolina at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in their inaugural ACC
season.
