Cards pick up ACC win over Boston College
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Boston College 6-1 in an ACC matchup Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they face No. 7 Wake Forest at 12 p.m. Seniors Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet will be honored prior to the match.

Louisville (14-15, 1-10 ACC) took the first point of the match with doubles wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Senior Jeffrey Brown and freshman Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff gave the Cards an early advantage with a 6-1 victory over Alexandre Thirouin and Aidan McNulty at the No. 2 spot while the tandem of junior Sean Donohue and Courtney Lock secured the doubles point by beating Kent Mukai and Conor Mullins 6-4 at No. 2.

In singles action, freshman Brandon Lancaster increased the lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jeffrey Melvin at the No. 3 position. Morin-Kougoucheff defeated Hank Workman 6-2, 6-2 at the two-spot to make the score 3-0. The match was decided on court six where Donohue beat Kyle Childree 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the win. Brown added another point when he registered a 7-6, 6-3 win over Thirouin at No. 2.
Freshman George Hedley's 7-6, 6-4 win over Mukai made the score 6-0.

The match ended on court one where Gornet rebounded from a 6-3 first-set loss to McNulty and took the second set 6-3 to force a third-set tiebreaker. McNulty prevailed 10-8 in the tiebreaker to put the Eagles on the scoreboard for the 6-1 final.
