
Lacrosse Sweeps ACC Player of the Week Awards

Kaylin Morissette and and Brittany Read win Player of the Week honors
After back-to-back wins over two top 10 opponents, Louisville lacrosse swept the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse weekly honors as senior midfielder Kaylin Morissette has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore goalie Brittany Read is the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Morissette led the Cardinals to two wins over Top 10 opponents this week, finishing with four goals and five assists. The senior midfielder scored two goals and dished out two assists in the Cardinals' decisive 10-4 win over No. 10 Northwestern, and tallied two goals and three assists in a 10-9 overtime win against No. 4 Notre Dame. Against the Irish, she won the draw control in the final possession of overtime and raced down the field, finding an open Kelli Gerding who scored for the win. Morissette finished the game with a team-high nine draw controls and totaled 14 for the week.
Read played all 123:09 in goal for the Cardinals earning both wins and recording a 6.35 goals against average and .629 saves percentage last week. The sophomore finished with a career-high 13 saves against No. 10 Northwestern and made nine saves against No. 4 Notre Dame while facing 26 shots. She made a crucial save in overtime to help lift the Cardinals to the win over the Irish. This is the second honor this season for Read.Â
