Track and Field Wraps Up First Day at the Raleigh Relays

Calvin Chemoiywo led the Cardinals with a career best performance in the 10,000m
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Louisville distance runners traveled to the Raleigh Relays on Friday to compete against some of the strongest competition in the nation. Calvin Chemoiywo led the Cardinals with a career best performance in the 10,000m.
Chemoiywo finished seventh in the event with a career best time of 29:22.91. He is off to a great start for the outdoor season after winning the 5000m last weekend at the USF Bulls Invitational. Senior Ernest Kibet finished 14th in the event with a season best time of 29:32.65. Japhet Kipkoech finished 23rd, giving the Cardinals three athletes to finish in the Top 25. He finished with a season best time of 29:54.70.
Claire Noser led the women in the 5000m. She finished 30th with a season best time of 17:12.36. Lydia Mato finished 48th with a time of 17:38.59. Adair Gennocro finished 65th with a time of 18:06.56 while Rachel Pease finished with a time of 18:18.24 to finish 76th.
Mia Ross finished 32nd in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:34.25. Freshman Aurilla Wilson finished 73rd with a time of 4:43.47. Matt Stephenson finished with a season best time of 15:12.01 in the 5000m.
The Cardinals will be back in action at the Florida Relays on April 1-2.
