
Track and Field Wraps Up First Day at the Hilltopper Relays

Ernest Kibet leads Louisville with a win in the 3000m
BOWLING GREEN, KY. – The Louisville track and field team wrapped up the first day at the Hilltopper Relays with a win in the men's 3000 meters. Ernest Kibet won the event while the Cardinals swept the top five spots. Â
Kibet won the 3000m run with a season best time of 8:25.96. Matt Stephenson ran a personal best time of 8:26.43 to finish second. Senior Japhet Kipkoech finished third with a season best time of 8:27.47. Calvin Chemoiywo finished fourth with a time of a season best time of 8:28.65 while Jonathan Reynolds ran a personal best time of 8:35.64 to finish fifth.
In the field events, Darrius Lopez led the Cardinals with fourth place finish in the hammer throw. He finished with a personal best mark of 57.56m /188-10.
On the women's side, Chanel Krause led the Cardinals with a second place finish in the pole vault. Krause finished with a season best mark of 4.11m/13-05.75. Jade Hawkins finished fifth with a season best mark of 3.86m/12-08.00. Â
Lydia Mato and Aurilla Wilson led the Cardinals as they finished fourth through eighth in the 3000 meter run. Mato ran a personal best time of 10:19.40 for a fourth place finish. Wilson finished fifth with a personal best time of 10:20.12.
The Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow in the final day of competition at the Hilltopper Relays. Â
