
Men's Tennis Hits the Road for a Pair of ACC Matches

Cards face No. 2 North Carolina on Friday and No. 40 Virginia Tech on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team will hit the road for a pair of ACC matches this weekend. The Cardinals (9-9, 0-4 ACC) will face second-ranked North Carolina (16-1, 1-1 ACC) on Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 40 Virginia Tech (10-3, 2-1)on Sunday at 1 p.m.

"North Carolina won the 2016 National Indoor Championships and is the second national champion that we will play this month alone," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "The first was Virginia who won the 2015 NCAA Championship. This is great opportunity for us to get back on the map. We have to have the attitude of a hunter this weekend. Our second match in Blacksburg will be against a Virginia Tech team who was a number one seed in the NCAA Regionals and returned almost their entire team."

About Louisville
The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 9-9 overall record and an 0-4 mark in ACC play. Louisville is coming off of a 7-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Sunday, prior to that, Louisville fell 5-2 to Clemson in the first match of Sunday's doubleheader.

• Senior Alex Gornet and freshman Brandon Lancaster lead the team with 19 singles wins apiece. Gornet carries a 7-7 mark in dual matches while playing mostly as Louisville's No. 1 spot while Lancaster is 6-4 playing mostly at No. 4. Gornet. Â

• The senior doubles team of Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet has registered a team-best 11 wins in doubles. Hedley and fellow freshman Christian Morin-Kougoucheff have teamed for an 8-2 dual match record at No. 2. Junior Sean Donohue and Lock carry a 7-2 mark at Louisville's No. 3 team.

Scouting the Hokies: Virginia Tech is currently No. 40 in the ITA team rankings and carry a 10-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in ACC play prior to a Friday match at No. 23 Florida State. The Hokies have won their last two matches, defeating Boston College 7-0 in an ACC matchup on Sunday and following that with a 7-0 win over VCU on Wednesday.Â
