
Lacrosse Picked to Finish Seventh in the ACC Preseason Poll

Kaylin Morissette named preseason first team All-ACC
Louisville, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the ACC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll. The defending ACC champions Syracuse was selected as the preseason favorite.
The defending ACC champion Orange received five first-place votes en route to 61 total points, followed by North Carolina (one three-place vote, 59 points) and Notre Dame (45 points). One point separated the fourth- and fifth-place teams selected in the predicted order of finish, as Duke was picked fourth (31 points) and Boston College and Virginia each earned 30 points to tie for fifth. Louisville (24) was picked to finish seventh and Virginia Tech (8) eighth.
Louisville returns eight starters from the 2015 team that finished with a No. 18 ranking by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. In its first season in the ACC, Louisville arguably played one of their toughest schedules in program history, finishing with a 10-8 overall record and held a 2-5 clip in conference play. Â Louisville secured its second consecutive berth to the NCAA Tournament, where it fell to No. 9 Northwestern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Senior midfielder Kaylin Morissette was one of seven returning First- and-Second Team IWLCA All-Americans selected to the preseason All-ACC Team. Six of the eight ACC institutions were recognized on the Preseason All-ACC Team, led by North Carolina with four selections. Syracuse had three student-athletes named to the team while Notre Dame had two student-athletes named to the team, and Boston College, Duke, and Louisville each had one student-athlete tabbed.
A first team All-ACC selection, Morissette wrapped up her junior campaign as the all-time draw controls leader with 418 and ranked second in the nation in draw controls in 2015 with 10.17 per game. She led the team with 62 points, scoring 44 goals and dishing out 18 assists.
Morissette registered seven hat tricks and led the team in assists during the 2015 campaign. She finished her first season in the ACC ranked in the top 11 of goals, goals per game, points and draw controls. She was also a first team Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association All-West Region selection.
The Cardinals will begin the 2016 season on Feb. 6 as they host Marquette at the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
