
Three Athletes Named to the 2015 All-ACC Academic Cross Country Teams

Edwin Kibichiy, Japhet Kipkoech and Benadate Cheruiyot all earned All-ACC Academic honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three University of Louisville cross country athletes were named to the 2015 All-ACC Academic Cross Country teams as announced by Commissioner John Swofford.
Japhet Kipkoech and Edwin Kibichiy were selected to the All-ACC Men's Academic Cross Country team for the second consecutive season while senior Benadate Cheruiyot was the lone Cardinal on the All-ACC Women's Academic Cross Country team.
Kipkoech and Kibichiy were instrumental in helping Louisville secure its first NCAA Southeast Regional Championship this past fall. The two led the `Cardinals to a seventh-place showing at the NCAA Championships held at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
A junior public health major from Kapasbet, Kenya, Edwin Kibichiy earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors after leading the Cardinals at the Southeast Regional when he clocked a career best of 29:14.6 and a third place finish. The senior political science major from Keringet, Kenya, Japhet Kipkoech earned USTFCCCA All-Region and All-ACC honors after he posted three top-5 finishes including a victory at the Vanderbilt Invite.
Benadate Cheruiyot, a senior public health major and two-time All-ACC Academic Cross Country Academic team selection from Eldoret, Kenya, led the Cardinals at the ACC Championships with a 32nd place finish in 21:11.3.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
