
Men's Tennis Hosts Butler and Valparaiso on Friday

Cards face Butler at 11 a.m. and Valparaiso at 6 p.m. Friday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team will play host to Butler and Valparaiso on Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The match against Butler will start at 11 a.m., an hour earlier than the previously scheduled start time, while the match against Valparaiso is slated for a 6 p.m. start. Admission is free.
"This is another tough doubleheader for us," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "It is nice to be at Bass-Rudd since we have been on the road almost a month. We hope our fans can support us since it means so much to the players."
Louisville (3-5) enters the weekend at No. 46 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings.
Senior Alex Gornet leads the team with a 15-9 overall singles record and is 3-3 at Louisville's No. 1 player. Freshman Brandon Lancaster stands second on the team with a 14-6 over singles record. Sophomore Courtney Lock has compiled an 11-7 overall record and is 4-2 in dual matches.
The senior doubles team of Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet carries a 9-8 overall record and is 3-3 as Louisville's No. 1 team.
Louisville recently wrapped up a four-match road swing. The Cards opened the road trip with the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Athens, Ga. Louisville fell 4-0 to No. 44 Memphis in the first round and the lost to No. 48 UC Santa Barbara 4-3 in the consolation match. After a nine-day break, the Cardinals hit the road again with a visit to Middle Tennessee State where they won the doubles point, but fell 6-1. Last Sunday, the Cardinals concluded the road swing at the University of Oregon. Freshman George Hedley won in singles, but the Cards lost 6-1.
Courtney Lock became Louisville's first ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week on January 19.
Head coach Rex Ecarma is in his 26th season at UofL and has a 412-231 overall record.
Up Next: Following Friday's matches, the Cardinals will travel to East Lansing, Michigan to face Michigan State on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Bulldogs: Butler enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall record, most recently splitting a double header, falling 7-0 to Valpo and beating Northwestern State 6-1. The Bulldogs are led by Adrian Mag who is 3-3 in dual matches in both singles and doubles.

Scouting the Crusaders: Valpo enters the weekend with a 4-2 overall record. The Crusaders have won their last three matches with 7-0 victories against IUPUI and Butler and a 5-2 win over Western Michigan. Valpo is led in singles by Jeffrey Schorsch who carries a 14-2 overall record and is 5-0 as the Crusaders' No. 1 player. Schorsch pairs with Charlie Emhardt to stand at No. 35 in the ITA doubles rankings.
