This Week: The Louisville women's track and field team will send two athletes to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend for the Hoosier Invite. Redshirt senior Dolly Nyemah will compete at 3:45 p.m. in the weight throw, and senior Emmonnie Henderson will compete in the shot put after the men's weight throw.

Nyemah and Henderson will compete against athletes from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Purdue, and Cincinnati.

Impressive Opening Weekend
The Cardinals opened their indoor track season by registering three wins and a new school record. Emmonnie Henderson started the winning off by taking first in the shot put with a throw of 16.95m/55' 7 1/2", a career best indoor mark. Henderson followed the discus up with a second place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 18.61m/61' 1".

Two Louisville newcomers started their season with a win, and one broke a seven year school record. Freshman Alexis Gibbons began her collegiate career with a record-breaking performance in the long jump. Gibbons jumped 6.26m/20' 6 ½", which broke the previous school record of 6.23m/20'-5 1/4" set by Amaka Omenyinma at the 2009 Big East Indoor Championships. Her mark was also a facility record.

Newcomer Jerin Allen also made a big impact in his appearance as a Cardinal. The junior won the high jump with a mark of 2.17m/7' 1 ½". Allen also finished second in the men's 200-meter with a time of 22.02.

Other Strong Showings
Junior Teague Peck finished second in the 400-meter run with a time 48.12. Sophomore Martice Moore also took second in the 60-meter hurdles clocking an 8.06. Junior Marcus Jegede finished second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.39m/24'3". Sophomore Raven Grant had a strong showing as well with a second place finish in the women's 200-meter with a time of 24.17. The women dominated the weight throw with newcomer Natalie Uhl finishing third with a throw of 15.40m/50' 6 ½" and junior Megan Brooks finished fourth with a mark of 15.03m/49' 4".
