
Women's Swimming Signs Three

Schoof, Friesen and Lowe join Cardinal roster next year
The University of Louisville women's swimming and diving program announced the signing of three swimmers for the class of 2021 who will have an immediate impact on the Cardinals' program. Morgan Friesen, Carley Lowe and Ashlyn Schoof have signed letters of intent to continue their careers at Louisville.
"We are very excited about the foundation of this class," said head coach Arthur Albiero. "We believe the future is bright for this group as they each have the right heart to succeed in our program. Their values and aspirations are a great match to the pillars of our program which have been the foundation of Louisville Swimming and Diving over the past 14 years. As we continue to live out the 'Humble & Hungry' motto, these three young ladies will have the opportunity to come in and help us elevate our program on the conference, national and international stage."

Morgan Friesen – Greeley, CO – Windsor High School Â

Friesen joins the Cardinals from Greeley, Co. where she attends Windsor High School and swims for Loveland Swim Club. She is a four-time CHSAA state champion and the Colorado State Record Holder in the 100 breaststroke. Friesen competed at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She is Junior National Finalist in the 100 and 200 breast and was named the Coloradoan Swimmer of the Year in 2016. Academically, Friesen is a 2-time Scholastic All-American, a member of the National Honor Society and Windsor High School Honor Roll member.

Carley Lowe – Orlando, FL – Lake Highland Preparatory SchoolÂ

Lowe will head north to join the Cardinals from Orlando, Fla., where she attends Lake Highland Preparatory School and swims for Highlander Aquatic Club. She is a 3-time All-American, multi-event Junior National Finalist in both short course and long course and a four-time FHSAA State Champion, including two state titles this past weekend. Lowe was named a varsity team captain and helped lead her team to a team runner-up finish at the 2015 and third place finish at the FHSAA state meet. She competed at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 200 Fly and 400 IM. Outside of the pool, Lowe is a member of the National Honors Society and French National Honors Society.

"I chose Louisville because I loved the way the team felt like a family. The coaching staff was full of enthusiasm, very welcoming, and I got a very positive vibe from the whole team. Ashlyn Schoof – Muskego, WI – Muskego High SchoolÂ

Schoof will come to Louisville from Muskego, Wisc. where she attends Muskego High School and now swims for Elmbrook Swim Club. Ranked as one of the top ten recruits for the class of 2017, she is a Wisconsin state record holder and Wisconsin state champion. Schoof is a YMCA national finalist, Junior National Finalist and Speedo Sectional Champion in the backstroke events. She competed at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Schoof is tied for 21st all-time for 18&Unders in the 100 backstroke in USA Swimming history.
 Ashlyn on why she chose Louisville:
"The University of Louisville has everything that I am looking for in a school and swimming program. The team culture is so positive and welcoming and I was able to feed off of their energy right away. The team and coaches share a lot of the same values that I have set in my life which made the decision so clear cut. I know it is a place where I can improve as an athlete, a student, and an all-around person. I am so blessed and excited to finally become a Louisville Cardinal!"
