
Lacrosse Wraps Up Fall Play in the Navy Tournament on Sunday

Annapolis, Md. - The University of Louisville lacrosse team wrapped up play in the Navy Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals finished with a 3-2 record over the most competitive competition this fall. Louisville improved to 8-2 in fall play.Â

The Cardinals began the 2016 Navy tournament against the host team USNA, falling 8-4. Senior midfielder Hannah Koloski led the team with two goals. Other Louisville contributors were sophomore attacker McKayla Conti (1 G), senior midfielder Emily Howell (1 G), and freshman attacker Ashley Lynch (1 A). Freshman goalie Lexie Ball negotiated seven saves and eight goals against in her first collegiate start.
San Diego State University Recap
The Cards bounced back from their Navy loss with a 10-2 win over San Diego State University. Senior Hannah Koloski led the team with her three goal effort. There were 10 total players registering points for the Cardinal offense. Ashley Lynch (2 G), Heidi Smith (1G) (1A), Katie Caddigan (1 G), Elise Koehl (1 G), McKayla Conti (1 A), Sara L'Heurex (1 A), Emily Petillo (1 G), Ally Ferrera (1 G), and Madison Hoover (1 G). The Cardinal defense was led by senior captains Stephanie McNamara and Emily Howell, and sophomore Casey Cummo having six caused turnovers. Freshman goalie Lexie Ball registered six saves and two goals against in the win.

Louisville lacrosse had a hard fought victory over Drexel with a score of 6-3. The Cards had scoring from six different players: Elise Koehl (1 G, 1 A) Hannah Koloski (1 G), Madison Hoover (1 G), Heidi Smith (1 G), Sara L'Heurex (1 G), and Megan Siverson (1 G). The Cardinal defense was led by Emily Howell and Casey Cummo. The defensive unit created the needed spark for their team with 16:24 left in the second half, when their pressure caused a 90 second shot clock violation for the Drexel offense. Goaltender Lexie Ball stayed strong in the net, holding Drexel to three goals and registering three saves.

The Cards fell 7-4 to Vanderbilt University to begin Sundays series of games. Sophomore midfielder Megan Siverson won 9 of 15 draw controls for Louisville. Senior midfielder Hannah Koloski led all scoring for the Cards with four goals. Freshman attacker Ashley Lynch had one assist on the game. Freshman goaltender, Lexie Ball posted six saves and seven goals against.Â
