
Getting to Know Sarah L'Heureux

Throughout the next few weeks, GoCards.com will unveil one member from the University of Louisville women's lacrosse's 2014-15 recruiting class. This week, Sarah L'Heureux is in the spotlight.
Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville freshman Sarah L'Heureux has compiled a well-decorated career prior to joining the Cardinals this fall.
"Sarah is such a smart attacker, plays disciplined and intently," said head coach Kellie Young. Â Â "She is the attacker you cannot forget about because she will make something amazing happen if you do."
L'Heureux, lettered four years in lacrosse during her tenure at Winter Springs High, and served as the team as captain the last two seasons.
Along with being honored as team captain, L'Heureux earned multiple athletic honors as an integral member of the lacrosse team. As a sophomore in 2012, she earned All-Conference, First Team, All-Area, and All-County while being named to the Florida High School National Team.
After returning from a knee injury in 2013, L'Heureux once again found success in 2014, scoring 84 goals and knotting 57 assists. After being named All-Conference, First Team, All-Area, and All-County as well as to the Florida High School National Team, she was honored as a member of the Athletic All American First Team and the Brighthouse Sports Network Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year. Â L'Heureux also finished her senior year earning many honors including all-american honors for the second straight year.

Academically, L'Heureux has thrived while at Winter Springs. She is the secretary of the National Honors Society, president of the BETA club, vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and treasurer of the Student Government. She is also a member of the Math and Science Honor Societies and of the school Leadership Team. Â Â

L'Heureux comes from a very athletic family. Her grandfather Edgar L'Heureux played baseball at Stetson and her father Scott played tennis at Georgia State University, while her mother Nora was a rower at Central Florida. Her sister Anne is currently a junior on the Louisville lacrosse team.
"I was most attracted to the outstanding athletic programs Louisville has," said L'Heureux. Â "The overall competitive and high performance atmosphere appealed to me and the impressive facilities and sports staff stood out to me. Â I like how each of the coaches are very knowledgeable about the sport and all seem to bring something new and creative to the field. They all understand what it means to be a student-athlete and respect all of the qualities and interests of the players. They are motivational and great field leaders."Â
