Throughout the next few weeks, GoCards.com will unveil one member from the University of Louisville women's lacrosse's 2014-15 recruiting class. This week, New Jersey resident native McKayla Conti is in the spotlight.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - While some players focus on just one sport during their prep careers, McKayla Conti was busy excelling in three, all at the varsity level.
"McKayla's talents far exceeds her age," said head coach Kellie Young. "I am excited about the upcoming year and to see how soon she is able to impact Division I lacrosse."
A three-sport athlete at Ocean Township High in New Jersey, Conti has earned a total of 10 varsity letters during her tenure. Along with lettering four years in lacrosse, she also lettered twice in swimming and four times in soccer.
Conti has collected numerous accolades while at Ocean Township, beginning in her sophomore season. In 2013 she earned third team All-Shore honors from the Asbury Park Press and was named to the All Division Coaches Team. As a junior in 2014, she added to those honors, after earning first team All-Shore honors from the Asbury Park Press and first team All-Shore Conference accolades from the Star Ledger. She was also selected in the top 12 for the NJ North US Lacrosse team while also garnering Brine All-American honors.
Conti's athleticism is not out of the ordinary in her family. Her grandfather, George Conti Sr., played football at Rhode Island, while her father Michael played football at the College of New Jersey. Her uncle George also played football, lettering at Temple, while her cousin Tina played soccer at Villanova and her cousin Eddie played football both at Delaware and in the NFL Europe in Barcelona.
