Louisville Lacrosse Italy Blog

Louisville Lacrosse got the experience of a lifetime as they traveled overseas to the beautiful country of Italy! Bouncing all around from Lake Como, Milan, Cinque Terre, Rome, Pisa, Capri Island and even Switzerland, the Louisville Lacrosse team had an exciting time seeing new sights and having the wonderful opportunity to grow the game of lacrosse.
DAY 8 & 9: THE BEAUTIFUL ISLAND OF CAPRI AND DEPARTURE
On our final day in Italy we visited Capri, Naples. We arrived in Capri around 10:30 am and began our walking tour with a ride in a tram to the top of Capri. Our walking tour guide took us around the top and discussed the highlights of Capri.
Naples is the birthplace of pizza and the first pizza that was created was Margherita, named after the queen. The chef that created this pizza wanted to give the Queen of Italy a dish that was especially created for her. He used the Italian flag as inspiration and used the sauce to represent the red, the mozzarella to represent the white, and the basil to represent the green. We took pictures at this incredible overlook and some of us enjoyed the beach for a few hours.
Although it was sad to leave Rome behind us, Louisville lacrosse had the experience of a lifetime. I know that we will never forget this trip and could not be more grateful for our amazing coaching staff who made this possible.
We are extremely thankful for Patty Norton and Tom Jurich who organized this trip, as well as the donations received to fund this incredible experience. Lastly, the ladies of Louisville lacrosse would like to thank our amazing bus drive and our tour guide leader Aurelia and all the other guides on the trip. Our journey through Italy has brought our team closer together and I can only hope that this closeness pushes us through the next year and on to win a Championship!
