We invite you to follow along on our blog as members of the team share with you stories, pictures, and memories of the trip they will never forget.
DAY 3: PIZZA MAKING, SWITZERLAND, & ITALIAN SOCCER GAME
The ladies of Louisville Lacrosse had a very hands on experience with one of their favorite things...pizza! After breakfast that morning, we traveled to a restaurant to have a lesson with an Italian chef. Before we could get our hands messy, we watched the chef prepare the dough and we were able to ask him questions as we pleased. He did not speak English, however, we had Aurelia to translate back and forth any questions we did ask. Of course we had to look like official pizza chefs, so we were all given paper chef hats and aprons. We went in groups of five and picked from a large assortment of toppings to create whatever type of pizza we desired. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and the pizzas were delicious!
Following our morning of pizza creations, we decided to travel a little further. It was a 40 minute bus ride over the Italian border into the beautiful state of Switzerland. We were dropped off into the scene of a postcard. Shops and restaurants lined the edge of a lake that was bordered with a breath-taking mountain range. The town of Lugano was clean and scenic and we were left to explore further into the center of the city for the next few hours. There were boats that paddled out into the middle of the lake, cafe's that sold the infamous Swiss chocolate and views that photos just can't do justice. We spent the afternoon strolling around taking it all in before catching a train back to Lake Como at the end of the day.
After a day in Switzerland, a group of us went into Milan to watch a professional fûtbol (soccer) game. The team we were cheering for was Inter-Milan. The stadium was almost the size of some of the largest NFL stadiums in America. It was awesome to witness a professional sporting event in a different country, and see how diverse of a fan base there was. Inter-Milan ended up winning the game and we all had a great time!
