Henderson and Williams Lead the Cardinals on the Final Day at the ACC Championship

Emmonnie Henderson and Ben Williams led the Louisville track and field teams with two event wins on the final day of competition at the ACC Championship in Tallahassee, Fla. on Saturday. Henderson won her second individual title in the discus and was named the ACC Women's Field MVP. Williams won the triple jump, giving the Cardinals five event titles over the weekend.
The women's team finished sixth in the standings while the men's team finished eighth. On the final day, six athletes finished with All-ACC honors and the women's 4x400m relay team set a new school record.
"I'm excited about the things both programs were able to accomplish this weekend," said head coach Dale Cowper. "Emmonnie and Ben closed the championships out with event titles in the discus and triple jump. Our program has progressed a great deal through the outdoor season and I am excited to start NCAA postseason competition at the end of the month."
Henderson took her second event title in the discus throw with a mark of 55.51m (182-01). Dolly Nyemah finished third in the discus with a throw of 48.38m (158-09), earning first team All-ACC honors. Rachel Serafin finished 15th with a mark of 39.72m (130-04).
In the men's discus, Isaac Bowling led the Cardinals with a ninth place finish with a personal best throw of 51.98m (170-06). Trevor Troutman threw a personal best of 50.45m (165-06) to finish 14th. Steve Wade finished 17th with a throw of 50.40m (165-04) while Codie Hamsley finished 21st with a throw of 48.65m (159-07).
Williams won the triple jump with a mark of 16.30m (53-05.75) for his first ACC title. Devin Valentine finished 12th with a jump of 13.74m (45-01.00) while Kaleb Rowe finished 14th with a mark of 13.64m (44-09.00). On the women's side, Brittany Owens tied her personal best with a mark of 12.51m (41-00.50) to finish fifth and earn second team All-ACC honors.
In the running events, Kayla Tyson led the Cardinals with a fifth place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.69 to earn second team All-ACC honors. Josh Hall finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 47.48. Bailey Davis finished with a personal best time of 17:31.91 in the 5000m to finish 20th.
Chanel Krause earned second team All-ACC honors with a sixth place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.11m (13-05.75). Jade Hawkins finished 11th with a mark of 3.86m (12-08.00) to tie her personal best. On the men's side, Jacob Marguet finished 10th with a mark of 4.82m (15-09.75).
In the women's high jump, senior Maggie Gilberton finished eighth, clearing 1.72m (5-07.75). Freshman Linda Mutter finished 16th with a mark of 1.59m (5-02.50).
The women's 4x100m relay team of Alexis Murry, Tyson, Taylor Bradley and Bre'Yana Wash started the day on the track for the Cardinals with a season best time of 45.53 to finish ninth. The women's 4x400m relay team of La'Bianca Frazier, Wash, Kelsey Cramsey, and Bradley set a new school record, finishing eighth with a time of 3:41.89. They broke the previous record of 3:43.06 set in 2012.
The men's 4x400m relay was the final event of the weekend. The relay team of Antoine Keys, Andrew Nsuk, Teague Peck, and Hall finished 10th with a time of 3:12.96.
The Cardinals will now prepare for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Fla.
