McKay Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville freshman lefthander Brendan McKay was chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
McKay continued his impressive rookie campaign on Saturday by holding then-No. 7 Florida State without a hit in 6.1 innings of shutout work as No. 2 Louisville clinched the 2015 ACC Atlantic Division championship with a 7-0 win at Jim Patterson Stadium. The two-way player from Darlington, Pennsylvania, added six strikeouts to improve to 8-1 on the season and lower his ERA to just 1.65 overall. He also has 88 strikeouts and just 28 walks in 71.0 innings pitched.
This marks the fourth time this season a Louisville player has earned one of the ACC weekly honors. On April 13, Josh Rogers was named as the ACC Pitcher of the Week, while on April 6 , Corey Ray was chosen as ACC Player of the Week. Following the opening week of the season, Kyle Funkhouser was the ACC Pitcher of the Week announced on Feb. 16.
Up next, No. 2 Louisville will host seventh-ranked Vanderbilt on Tuesday at 6 p.m., ET in the final regular season game of the season at Jim Patterson Stadium. Admission is free for the game, which will be televised by ESPN3 and aired on 93.9 The Ville.
