Women's Lacrosse Finishes Out Road Stint at American

No. 10 Louisville will wrap up a four game road stint at American on Tuesday, March 31 at 2:00 p.m. on Jacobs Field.
Louisville enters the week with an overall record of 8-3. Most recently the Cardinals fell 12-10 to No. 4 Northwestern on Sunday afternoon. Senior Faye Brust led the Cards with six goals and one assist.
American enters the week with an overall record of 3-8. The Eagles rolled to a 16-6 victory over league-foe Bucknell on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak. Juniors Terese Buechli and Jessica Wojciechowski each registered a career-high five goals against the Bison to lead American's offense.
Tuesday's meeting will be the first meeting between the two teams.
SEASON NOTES
Louisville Earns Top 10 Ranking
The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team cracked the top 10 of two major polls on March 16 for the first time in school history that the Cardinals have been ranked in the top 10. The Cards dropped two hard-fought games last week. Louisville was edged by No. 3/4Boston College in overtime before falling to No. 4/3 Duke, 10-8. The narrow margin helped the Cards prove they can be a contender in the ACC. Louisville moved into 10th in the in the latest IWLCA poll and 7th in the Lacrosse Magazine poll. They also moved up two spots to 12th in the Brine Division I women's media poll.
First Shutout in School History
The Cardinals earned their first shutout in school history against Duquesne on March 4. Louisville defeated the Dukes 17-0. Goalkeeper Ashley Peacock became the first keeper in school history to earn a shutout.
Morissette Breaks Career Draws Record
Junior Kaylin Morissette broke the career draw controls record in the first game of the season. Morissette set a new school record with 18 draw controls against Longwood. Brust and Morissette Score 100th Career Goal
Senior Faye Brust became the sixth player and junior Kaylin Morissette became the seventh player in school history to score 100 goals. Brust's second goal in the Canisius game put her over the century mark for her career. Morissette became the seventh player in school history to score 100 goals with her fifth goal against Duquesne. Brust is fifth all-time in scoring with 137 goals while Morissette is sixth with 123 goals. Below is Louisville's all-time scorers list: Name Yrs. Goals

Morissette Named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List
The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced that Louisville's Kaylin Morissette was one of 50 players named to the watch list. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour. Morissette leads the team in scoring this season with 35 goals. She also leads the team in draw controls with 118 on the season.
Koloski Steps Up
Hannah Koloski made an immediate impact this season. The sophomore led Louisville with a career-best six goals in the season opener against Cincinnati. She is currently third on the team in goals with 33 this season. She ranks fourth on the team with 35 points on the year.
Gerdings Career Day
Junior Kelli Gerding scored a career-high four goals in the Cards' 18-5 win over William & Mary on March 7. Gerding scored two goals in the first half, including her first goal of the half to give the Cards a cushion when the Tribe had gotten within one goal. She started the scoring in the second half to five the Cards a 10-2 lead. She scored her final goal of the game for a 14-2 Louisville lead.
ACC Preseason Poll
The University of Louisville lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the ACC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll. North Carolina and Syracuse have been selected as the preseason favorites. The Orange and the Tar Heels each received four first-place votes and 59 points in the balloting among the ACC's eight head coaches. Two points separated the third, fourth and fifth place teams selected in the predicted order of finish as Duke was picked third (40), Virginia fourth (39) and Boston College (38) fifth. Notre Dame (29) was picked to finish sixth, ACC newcomer Louisville (16) seventh and Virginia Tech (8) eighth. ACC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

Preseason All-ACC
Junior midfield Kaylin Morissette was one of six returning First- and-Second Team IWLCA All-Americans as selected to the preseason All-ACC Team. The 2014 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, Morissette broke the school's single-season record for draw controls just 10 games into the season and finished the year with 169. Nationally, she ranked second in the category with 8.45 per game. She also tallied 43 goals and 12 assists, while collecting 33 ground balls. Morissette was named a second team IWLCA All-American. She needs just 12 draw controls to become the school's career leader in the category. Through her first two seasons, the Bowmanville, Ontario, native has totaled 100 points that includes 86 goals.
Brust and Daley Named Captains
Head coach Kellie Young announced that Faye Brust and Cortnee Daley will serve as Louisville's 2015 team captains as the Cardinals look to build off the momentum from last year for another record-breaking season. "I'm excited to announce this year's captains," said Young. "We are happy about the players' selection of captains and believe in their ability to guide their teammates. Their cohesive passion is remarkable and will be a driving force behind our team's success this spring."
