February 27, 2015 | Women's Lacrosse
The No. 13/15 University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will be on the road for the first time this season when it travels to take on No. 20/19 Denver on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, Colo.
Louisville (2-0) started the season with two consecutive home victories over Cincinnati and Canisius. The Cards are led by senior Faye Brust, who scored her 100th career goal in the first half of the victory over Canisius and has six goals on the season. Junior Cortnee Daley and sophomore Hannah Koloski lead the team in goals with nine apiece, while junior Kaylin Morissette has 23 draw controls on the year, including a school record of 14 against Cincinnati.
Denver (2-1) boasts victories over Colorado and Vanderbilt after opening the season with an 18-10 loss at No. 3/2 Syracuse. The Pioneers are led offensively by redshirt freshman Nicole Martindale, who will enter Saturday's game with eight goals on the season. On the defensive end, Denver will look to redshirt senior goalkeeper Hannah Hook, who has 29 saves and has played every minute in goal.
The Cards lead the series 1-0 over the Pioneers. Last year's matchup between the two squads saw Louisville come out with the 12-7 upset victory over then-No. 18 Denver at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Brust scored four goals and Morissette added three more in the winning effort.
