
Five Field Hockey Players Earn NFHCA All-West Region Honors

Garcia, Stratton, Woods, McFerran selected to first team, McCrudden named to second team
The University of Louisville field hockey team placed five players on the 2015 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-West Region teams. Seniors Elisa Garcia and Victoria Stratton, sophomore Nicole Woods and freshman Ayeisha McFerran were selected to the first team while junior Erin McCrudden earned second team honors.

Garcia, a senior from Santiago, Chile, is making her third appearance on the NFHCA All-Region team, after being named to the first team in 2014 and the second team in 2013. The midfielder was a 2015 All-ACC second team selection and led the Cardinals with eight assists on the season while standing tied for second on the team with 16 points. She was selected to play in the 2015 NFHCA Senior Game. Â The Cardinals' 2015 co-captain finishes her career ranked third on Louisville's all-time list for career assists.

Stratton, a senior from Auckland, New Zealand,is a four-year starter and three-year captain. In 2015, she scored four goals and added one assist for nine points and was selected to play in the NFHCA Senior Game. The defender helped lead the Cardinals' defense to nine shutouts on the season – one shy of the school record. Â

Woods, a sophomore forward/midfielder from Beverly, Mass., led the Cardinals with nine goals and 22 points on the season. The 2015 All-ACC second team selection is making her first appearance on the NFHCA All-West Region team. Â

McFerran, a freshman goalkeeper from Larne, Northern Ireland, is coming off of an impressive rookie season in which she led the ACC – and tied the school season record - with nine shutouts. She posted a 1.24 goals-against average on the season, and earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 3.

McCrudden, a junior from Putnam Valley, N.Y., is making her first appearance on the all-region team. The midfielder scored three goals and dished out three assists while helping Louisville's defense to nine shutouts on the season.

The Cardinals finished the 2015 campaign with a 13-7 overall record and made their second-straight NCAA appearance. Louisville was ranked No. 11 in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll released on Nov. 10 and spent seven weeks among the top 10 in the nation after opening the 2015 season at No. 12.
