LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Throughout the last few weeks, GoCards.com unveiled one member from the University of Louisville women's lacrosse's 2014-15 recruiting class. This week, our final member is a New Jersey native, Allison Ferrara is in the spotlight.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Our final freshman Allison Ferrara will be looking to make an impact on the Cardinals this season. Â
"Allie's game has skyrocketed since her commitment to Louisville," said head coach Kellie Young.  "Her maturity as a player will prepare her for success in Division I lacrosse." Â
Ferrara played both basketball and lacrosse while at Morristown High in New Jersey, lettering in basketball two years and lacrosse all four years. Â
As a junior in 2014, Ferrara was named the team MVP and an All-League and All-County selection after becoming Morristown's record-holder in goals (193), assists (96) and point (289). She also earned a prestigious honor in 2014 by being named an Academic All-American.Â
"I was primarily looking for a school that offered a strong education program and a lacrosse team where I could make an impact," said Ferrara. Â "Once I came to Louisville, my college search was over because everything I wanted from my college experience and more was offered right here. I love the emphasis on sports all across the board and the city of Louisville itself is such an awesome place too."
She finished her career as the school's all-time leader in goals and points. She was a three time All-Morris Country Area selection as well as being named to the New Jersey North High School All-American team. She was a Brine National Classic Lacrosse NJ team member and earned US Lacrosse honorable mention All-America honors.Â
Ferrara comes from a family of athletes, as her uncles Vin and Damon Ferrara played football at Harvard and Dartmouth, respectively, while her cousin Carly Horan currently plays lacrosse at Southern California.
"From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt as if everyone had wrapped their arms around me and welcomed me in the nicest way," said Ferrara. "Both the coaches and the girls on the team made me feel at home from the beginning. Everyone was incredibly personable and understanding, and they made the recruiting process a whole lot easier."
