Cardinals tie Team USA and defeat Penn State
Last weekend in fall play, the University of Louisville lacrosse team finished in a 7-7 tie with the U.S. National team. There was no overtime played in fall games.
The Cardinals led the U.S. late in the game 7-6 before Team USA's Laura Zimmerman found Brooke Griffin for the equalizer.  Louisville had one last chance to score on an open net, but the ball just barely missed and flew wide past the right pipe.
After tying Team USA, the Cardinals stormed the field to celebrate.
"When you're tied with the U.S. team, I'm pretty happy," head coach Kellie Young told Lacrosse Magazine. "Our kids just played with confidence. Hannah Koloski, Kaylin Morissette, Cortnee Daley — they did a nice job with our movement behind the cage. [We used] our speed, recognizing opportunities and taking them and not being scared."
Earlier in the day, Louisville topped Penn State by five goals.
"The thing I just keep teaching them, there may be more talent on the other team, but it's hard to beat hard work," Young said.
