
Swimming and Diving Head to Indiana and Ohio State

The University of Louisville No. 4 men's and No. 18 women's swimming and diving teams are back in action this weekend with a pair of meets. On Friday, the No. 19 women's swimming and diving team will face off with Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. ET. The No. 19 men's swimming and diving team will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday to compete against Indiana and Ohio State at 1 p.m. ET.
The Cards are coming off a dominant performance over intrastate rival Kentucky in their previous dual meet last weekend, with the men winning 211-89 and the women holding off the Wildcats 155-145. The Cardinals won 27 of the 32 total events.
The men were paced by Caryle Blondell, Trevor Carroll, and Grigory Tarasevich, who all picked up two individual wins. Blondell led the Cards in the 50-free (20.22) and the 100-free (44.35) and was also part of both relay squad victories. Carroll touched first in the 200-free (1:436.14) and the 500-free (4:29.34) and helped the 400-free relay squad to victory. Tarasevich swept both backstroke events taking the 100-back in 48.83 and the 200-back in 1:46.13. Sean Piner finished second in the 3-m springboard with a score of 333.98.
Tanja Kyllainen, Andrea Cottrell, and Kelsi Worrell led the way for the Cardinals on the women's side that narrowly took the victory from the Wildcats. Kyllainen won two individual events along with helping the 200 medley relay squad to the win. Kyllainen won the 200-IM in 1:58.59 and the 200-fly in 1:57.12 Worrell added victories in the 50-free in a time of 22.76 and the 100-fly in 52.04. Cottrell swept both breaststroke events by winning the 100-breast in 1:02.42 and the 200-breast in 2:16.17. Emily Stalmack led the diving squad with a fourth place score of 253.88 in the 1m springboard.
Indiana is coming off a sweep of Purdue in which the No. 9 men winning 162-138 and the No. 14 women escaping with the win 151.5-147.5 with a late 400-freestyle relay win. The Hoosiers were led with two individual wins by Brooklynn Snodgrass, Blake Pieroni, and Jackson Miller. Snodgrass won both the 100-back and the 200-back with NCAA B-cut times of 53.83 and 1:55.79, respectively. Pieroni won the 100-free in 44.39 and the 200-free with a NCAA B-cut time of 1:37.55. Miller led the Hoosiers in distance swimming by picking up wins in the 500-free in 4:29.31 and the 1000-free in 9:13.89. The Hoosiers also swept the 1-m springboard event with Michael Hixon picking up the win with a score of 411.30 and Jessica Parratto leading the women with a score of 328.35.
The No. 12 Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a loss last weekend to No. 5 Michigan, 183-117. The Buckeyes swept both diving events with Shane Miszkiel winning the 3-m springboard with the top score of 376.95 while Stephen Romanik posted the win on the 1-m springboard with a score of 326.55. Brayden Seal led the Buckeyes to a win in the 1000-free with a time of 9:05.46 while teammate Steven Zimmerman earned the win in the 200-back in 1:45.97.
