Louisville, Ky. - Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, announced today the signing of former Louisville standout Nikki Boltja to Team STX, the first elite post-collegiate women's lacrosse team. Boltja joins eight other former players to sign - Alyssa Murray (Syracuse), Kirkland Locey (Syracuse), Taylor D'Amore (Johns Hopkins), Sammy Cermack (Johns Hopkins), Sloane Serpe (UNC), Abbey Friend (UNC) and Sydney Peterson (Duke).
As members of Team STX, the athletes will compete at the highest levels of women's lacrosse, lead youth camps and clinics, and help to expand the reach of the game.
Boltja concluded her senior campaign ranked third nationally in goals (71), goals per game (3.55), and points per game (5.00), and fourth in points (100). The BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year has registered 14 hat tricks this year and totaled the 24th-most assists in the country (29). She finished her Louisville career ranked first on the school's career charts in free-position goals (52), second in points (235) and goals (193), third in assists (42) and game-winning goals (9), and ninth in game started. She was named all-BIG EAST and all-region honors each of the last three years. The new athletes join captain Josie Owen and 14 players from last year's inaugural Team STX, along with Kelly Barnes who signed earlier this year.
Team STX will defend its championship title as it kicks off the season at the 42nd Vail Lacrosse Shootout in Vail, Colorado from July 3-6. This season, Team STX will also compete in the Lake Placid Classic and will expand its youth skills clinics nationwide.
