Alex Gornet - LOUISVILLE, Ky. -University of Louisville tennis players Alex Gornet and Michael Lippens teamed to win the Firecracker Open Doubles championship.

"I am pleased with the showing of Alex Gornet and Michael Lippens in winning the FireCracker Men's Open doubles," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "They did not drop a set and showed their improvement in doubles."

The top-seeded duo received a first round bye and picked up a pair of two-set wins en route to the title.

In singles action, fourth-seeded Gornet strung together three two-set victories before falling 7-5, 6-3 to eventual champion and current touring professional Eric Quigley in the semifinals.
