Men's Tennis Set for American Athletic Conference Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team is set to face Temple in the first round of the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship on Friday at 1 p.m. (ET) in Memphis.
The Cardinals (20-6) earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will face the No. 6 seeded Temple (11-10) in the teams' first-ever meeting. The winner will advance to face the winner of the matchup between the No. 2 seed USF and seventh-seeded Connecticut in the semifinals on Saturday at 12 p.m.

About Louisville
The Cardinals enter the tournament with a 20-6 overall record and at No. 39 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Louisville is led by junior Michael Lippens who carries a 37-8 overall singles record with a team-best 20-3 mark in dual matches. The duo of Chris Simich and Albert Wagner leads the Cardinals with a 20-5 doubles record.
• Lippens stands at second on UofL's single season wins list with 37 - he needs one more to tie the record of 38. Lippens also enters the weekend with an 88-34 overall singles mark and needs two more to enter the career top 10 leaders.
• Simich is a member of the 2014 50-win club with 57 combined singles and doubles wins for the season.
• Alex Gornet brings a 12-match win streak into the weekend.
• The Cardinals finished their tenure in the BIG EAST by winning the conference championship in three of the last four years. They won three straight titles from 2010-12 and finished runner-up in 2013.
