Notre Dame (6-1) used nine hits including a leadoff homer by Emilee Koerner to take a 7-0 lead in the top of the first.
Louisville got three runs back in the bottom of the second when Kayla Soles reached on a one-out error and Morgan Meyer drew a two-out walk. Kelsi Jones followed with an RBI single to put the Cards on the scoreboard. Whitney Arion's two-run double made the score 7-3.
Notre Dame responded in the third when Chloe Saganowich led off the frame with a double, took third on Jenna Simon's sacrifice hit and scored on an infield single by Karley Wester to increase the lead to 8-3.
The Cards added another run in the home half of the third when Fowler and Ruckenbrod delivered back-to-back one-out hits and Soles followed with an RBI single to make the score 8-4.
Louisville would get no closer as once again, the Irish answered, this time in the top of the fourth behind a two-run homer by Micaela Arizmendi. Cassidy Whidden led off the fourth with a double to set up Arizmendi's shot over the right field fence to make it a 10-4 game.
Notre Dame tacked on another run in the top of the seventh when Saganowich singled and Koerner was walked to set up Wester's two-out RBI single for the 11-4 final.
The Cardinals had a chance to push more runs across in the sixth when Arion led off with double and walks to Duncan and Keller loaded the bases with two outs, but a groundout ended the threat. Louisville stranded 10 runners in the game.
Rachel LeCoq (2-2) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits in one third of an inning. Arion led the Cardinals offensively batting 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jones was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Laura Winter (3-1) got the win, giving up one earned run on six hits and striking out three in 5.1 innings of relief. Saganowich was 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI while Arizmendi was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs to lead the Irish at the plate.
