Eight Wins Highlight Track and Field's Indoor Opener

The University of Louisville track and field teams jump started the year in impressive fashion, registering eight victories Thursday evening at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
On the men's side, five freshmen won events, including Josh Hall with two wins in the 200 meters and 400 meters. Overall the men won six events. The women finished with wins in two events.
Hall made his collegiate debut with by winning the200 meters with a time of 22.18. Junior Antoine Keys finished second with a time of 22.45. Hall also won the 400 meters with a time of 48.54. Keys registered another runner-up finish with a time of 49.14. Freshman Carlos Coleman finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 49.98 Freshman Javen Reeves earned his first collegiate victory in the high jump by clearing 2.04m/ 6' 8.25". Fellow freshman Austin Hyden finished third by clearing 1.99m/ 6' 6.25".
Five Cardinals had top 10 finishes in the long jump. Freshman Oliver Newport earned his first collegiate win with a mark of 7.25m/23' 9.50". Junior Ben Williams finished sixth with a mark of 6.89m/22' 7.25". Sophomore Nick Kennedy finished seventh, Jeron Brown finished eighth and freshman Devin Valentine finished 10th.
Valentine registered his first collegiate win in the triple jump with a mark 14.87m/48' 9.50". Freshman Kaleb Rowe finished third with a mark of 14.19m/46' 6.75".
Senior Brad Vivace finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.16m/ 59' 7". Vivace finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 16.49m/ 54' 1.25", while Steve Wade finished seventh.
The Cardinals' A team won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.17 while the B team finished fifth with a time of 3:20.09.
The women registered two wins, junior Brittany Owens won the triple jump and sophomore Kelsie Courtney won the long jump. Owens won her first event of the season with a mark of 12.22m/ 40' 1.25" in the triple jump.
Owens also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.68m/ 18' 7.75". Bre'Yana Wash finished second in the event with a mark of 6.02m/ 19' 9". Hannah Cox finished sixth, Brianne Brown finished seventh and freshman Raven Graves finished 13th. Courtney won her first even of the season, clearing 1.66m/ 5' 5.25" in the long jump. Teammate Maggie Gilbertson finished sixth. Alexis Murry finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.66. Taylor Bradley finished sixth and Gwen Shaw finished 14th.
Sophomore Brianne Brown finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.72 while Murry finished eighth with a time of 8.89. Bradley registered a fourth place finish in the 400 meters with w time of 56.74. La'Bianca Frazier finished 10th.
Sophomore Dolly Nyemah finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 17.32m/ 56' 10". Rachel Serafin finished fifth with a throw of 17.35m/ 56' 11.25". The women's 4x400m relay team finished second with a time of 3:52.46.
Louisville will be back in action on Dec. 5 at the Golden Flash Gala in Kent, Ohio.
