
Men's Cross Country Finishes Eight and Women Finish 12th at the ACC Championship

Ernest Kibet finished with a career-best 8K time and Benadate Cheruiyot recorded a season-best 6K time to lead the University of Louisville cross country teams at the ACC Cross Country Championships on Friday at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course in Earlysville, Va.
Kibet finished in second place with a career-best time of 23:21.7 to help the men to an eighth place finish, while Cheruiyot finished in 37th with a time of 21:19.2 to lead the women to a 12th place finish overall.
"I would like to thank the ACC and the University of Virginia for an outstanding job at hosting the Championships," said head coach Dale Cowper. "Ernest ran a quality race and earned a personal best against some great competition. Edwin also ran a good race, finishing in the top 10. The ACC has some really great teams and overall we still have some work to do in order to achieve our goals."
Martin Hehir of Syracuse won the men's 8K race with a time of 23:15.2, edging Kibet by just 6.5 seconds. Syracuse finished in first place for the second time in as many years. Liv Westphal of Boston College won the women's race with a time of 19:43.8, while North Carolina won the women's race.
Edwin Kibichiy finished in sixth place for his fourth top 10 finish of the season. He finished with a time of 23:26.7. Japhet Kipkoech recorded a time of 24:40.0 to finish in 51st place, while Kyle Covert finished in 73rd place with a time of 24:59.5.
Jonathan Reynolds clocked a time of 25:06.4 to finish in 78th, while Andrew Stewart finished in 87th place with a time of 25:19.5. Daniel Southard finished just three spots behind Stewart, crossing with a time of 25:22.2. Chris Striegel rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals finishing in 103rd place with a time of 25:41.5. Nick Reader finished in 25:45.3 for 105th place, while Thomas Cave finished in 123rd place with a time of 26:24.9.
Emily Bushey finished in 41st place in the women's race with a time of 21:24.3, just 5.1 seconds after Cheruiyot. Megan Klein finished in 63rd place with a time of 21:43.4, while Kelsie Schwartz finished in 72nd place with a time of 21:51.7.
Mia Ross clocked a time of 22:10.7 to finish in 92nd place, while Claire Noser finished in 102nd with a time of 22:22.0. Michelle Molodynia was the final scorer for the Cardinals, finishing in 107th place with a time of 22:27.7. Rachel Pease finished in 111th place with a time of 22:33.2, while Bailey Davis finished in 120th place with a time of 22:57.6. Leah Kiyohara finished just two places behind Davis with a time of 23:05.7
