
Men's Tennis Starts Strong at Louisville Fall Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up six wins on day one of the Louisville Fall Invitational at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We had an almost perfect day winning every match but one," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "I was impressed with Courtney and Santi today. The played well. Courtney beat a veteran player from Indiana today which was a nice win. We are in the quarterfinals in three of the four divisions so I hope the fans come out and support these guys starting at 10 am."
The Cardinals started the day with double win from Courtney Lock and Santiago Salazar who defeated SIU-Edwardsville's Stephen Washuta and Nic Vincent 8-1.
In singles action, Salazar defeated SIUE's Enrique Samudio 6-0, 6-3 and Jacob Perkins 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the Flight A quarterfinals. Lock also reached Saturday's `A' quarterfinals with a pair of wins. In his first round, Lock beat SIUE's Matt Hutchinson 6-0, 6-2 and then posted a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Indiana's Elliott Yee.
In Flight B singles, Pally Ray fell 6-3, 6-0 to Northwestern Ohio's Garbriel Cleto, but rebounded to beat Morehead's Robby Berry 6-1, 6-0 in the back draw.
The Louisville Fall Invitational will continue Saturday with doubles starting at 10 a.m.
