Lacrosse Wraps Up Alumnae Weekend on Saturday

The Louisville women's lacrosse team wrapped up its alumnae weekend with a postseason banquet on Friday night and the annual alumnae game on Saturday afternoon. Faye Brust led team to a 15-13 win on Saturday afternoon at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
The postseason banquet was held at the PNC Club on Friday evening. Louisville's team awards included the team MVP, MIP, Unsung Hero, Rookie of the Year and the Coaches Award.
Nikki Boltja earned the MVP award. Boltja concluded her senior campaign ranked third nationally in goals (71), goals per game (3.55), and points per game (5.00), and fourth in points (100). The BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year has registered 14 hat tricks this year and totaled the 24th-most assists in the country (29). She finished her Louisville career ranked first on the school's career charts in free-position goals (52), second in points (235) and goals (193), third in assists (42) and game-winning goals (9), and ninth in game started. She was named all-BIG EAST and all-region honors each of the last three years.
Carissa Corbett earned the MIP award. Corbett appeared in 20 games, making seven starts last season. She finished the year with eight goals, 15 ground balls and 26 draw controls, and was credited with six caused turnovers. She also finished in the top-10 of eight of the team's statistical categories. Corbett had three draw controls to help defeat Ohio State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Cortnee Daley received the Unsung Hero Award. Daley appeared in all 20 games, making 17 starts. In 2014, Daley finished tied for second on the team with 43 goals. She also led the team with 22 caused turnovers, ranking her eighth in the BIG EAST last season. She also added two assists to finish fourth on the team in points with 45. Daley finished her sophomore season with 40 ground balls and nine draw controls.
Stephanie McNamara and Ashley Peacock earned the Rookie Award. McNamara appeared in 20 games, making 18 starts as a freshman. She finished fifth on the team with 12 caused turnovers and seventh on the team with 17 ground balls. She also finished with five draw controls. Peacock appeared in 12 games, making seven starts in goal for the Cardinals. She finished the season playing in 494:30 in the circle and a 5-1 record. She allowed 55 goals for a 6.67 goals allowed average and made 39 saves. She was also credited for 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The coaches award was presented to the entire team. Louisville finished the 2014 season with its highest ranking in program history at No. 11 by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. The Cardinals set a program record for wins (16) in addition to capturing their first conference regular-season and tournament titles. Louisville ran through league play, boasting a 7-0 record against conference foes, becoming one of just three programs to go undefeated in the BIG EAST since 2009.
After beating Georgetown in the BIG EAST Tournament title match, Louisville secured its first berth to the NCAA Tournament, where it defeated 10th-ranked Ohio State in double overtime and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
