
Swimming Sweeps Georgia Tech

The University of Louisville men's and women's swim team swept Georgia Tech in Atlanta with the men's team prevailing 191.5-70.5 and the women winning 202-60 in the first meet of the new year.
"The challenge for the group was to embrace a high level performance mindset under difficult conditions as we came out of our intense training camp," said U of L coach Arthur Albiero. "Overall, both the women's and the men's team did a good job in accepting the challenge. We are fortunate to have an outstanding group of seniors who continue to lead us."
The Cards received help from multiple event winners Tanja Kylliainen (200-fly, 500-free, 200-IM), Kameron Chastain (200-breast, 100-breast, 400-MR),Grigory Tarasevich (100-back, 200-back, 400-MR), Kelsi Worrell (50-free, 400-MR, 100-fly), Joao De Lucca (50-free, 100-free, 400-MR, 200-FR). Andrea Cottrell won the 100-breast, 200-breast and the 400-MR). Bryan Draganosky won the 1000- and the 500-free. Mackenzie Buss swept the backstroke events and was a part of the 200-free relay team.

The women started the meet out on the right foot with a win in the 400-medley relay. Krissie Brandenburg led off with a 56.53 split, Andrea Cottrell boarded a 1:03.71, Kelsi Worrell's leg was 53.48 and Breann McDowell anchored with a 51.30 for a 3:45.02.
The men took top honors as well as back leg Grigory Tarasevich went 49.19 with Kameron Chastain turning in a 54.66 in the breast, the fly leg of Aaron Young went 50.30 and Joao De Lucca anchored in 45.03.
In the grueling 1000 free, Abigail Chin touched first with a time of 10:14.45. The men made it a sweep when Bryan Draganosky beat the field by seven full seconds with a 9:19.81.
Breann McDowell won the 200 free with a time of 1:51.51, with Abigail Houck touching third in 1:53.07.
In the men's 200-free, Trevor Carroll was into the wall first with a time of 1:40.54, with teammate Matthias Lindenbauer second in 1:41.95.
Louisville took the top two spots in the 100-back led by Mackenzie Buss' win in 57.54. Mary Mittel surged to second with a 58.34. In the men's event, the Cards went 1-2-3 led by Grigory Tarasevich's 49.96 win. Evan Noble was second in 50.35 and Aaron Green was third in 50.93.
In the 100-breast, U of L swept three of the top four spots, led by Andrea Cottrell's 1:04.16. Lucy Kramer was second in 1:06.29 and Giselle Kohoyda was fourth in 1:07.56. Kameron Chastain won the men's 100-breast with a time of 56.25. Thomas Dahlia was second in 57.88 and Addison Bray was fourth in 58.26. Dexter Thomas touched fifth swimming exhibition in 59.42.
Tanja Kyllianen left the field in her wake with a 2:01.54 win in the 200-fly. Teammate Devon Bibault was second in 2:05.83. In the men's event, Juan Lopez was the top finisher, touching second in 1:50.66. Josh Quallen was fourth in 1:52.87.
In the 50-free, Kelsi Worrell posted her first individual win in 23.15 with Krissie Brandenburg in hot pursuit, touching in 23.75.
Joao De Lucca was in a shootout in the men's 50-free when he and GT's Andrew Kosic tied for first with the identical time of 20.41. Caryle Blondell hit third with a 20.91 and Pedro Coutinho was fourth in 21.35.
In the 100-free, Krissie Brandenburg powered to a win in 51.26, out-touching teammate Breann McDowell's 51.88.
Joao De Lucca and Andrew Kosic went head-to-head again in the 100, with De Lucca touching in 44.48 for the win, Kosic was second in 44.80. Caryle Blondell was third in 45.29. Matthias Lindenbauer was fourth in 46.24.
In the women's 200-back, Cardinal Mackenzie Buss was into the wall first with a time of 2:05.65. Kristin Steins was second in 2:05.90.
The Cardinal men swept the top five spots in the men's 200-back, paced by Grigory Tarasevich's 1:48.38 for his second individual win. Nolan Tesone was second in 1:48, followed by Juan Lopez(1:49.68) and in exhibition, Aaron Green (1:48.97), and Nicholas Hasemann (1:52.82).
Andrea Cottrell won the 200-breast, going 2:20.10 with teammate Gisselle Kohoyda taking second in 2:21.74. Lucy Kramer was third in 2:24.08.
In the men's 200-breast, Kameron Chastain got his second individual win with a 2:04.96 winning time. Cardinal Thomas Dahlia was second in 2:05.07.
In the 500-free, Tanja Kylliainen picked up her second individual win with a 4:55.52. Abigail Chin was second in 5:01.18.
Bryan Draganosky won the men's 500-free in 4:34.06, two seconds ahead of the field.
Kelsi Worrell put up an NCAA B-cut time of 54.43 to win the 100-fly. Brittany Robinson was second in 56.71 and Mary Mittel was third in 57.39.
In the men's 100-fly, Pedro Coutinho was first with a time of 48.95 with David Boland touching third for the Cardinals in 50.71.
In the 200-IM, Tanja Kylliainen picked up her third individual win with a 2:02.85, five seconds ahead of the field. Erica Belcher was second in 2:07.56. In the men's event, Cardinal Evan Noble touched first in 1:51.19 with Nolan Tesone just .02 of a second behind him at 1:51.21. Josh Quallen was third in 1:54.18.
The Cardinal women won the final event with a 1:37.21 in the 200-free relay. Alexandra Sellers (24.90), Mackenzie Buss (24.10), Hanna Cowley (24.24) and Rachael Lewis (23.97)took the win.
The men won the 200-free relay when Joao De Lucca (20.30), Caryle Blondell (20.61), Thomas Dahlia (20.93 and Trevor Carrol (20.73) combine for a winning time of 1:22.57.
