The University of Louisville volleyball team fell 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20 to the visiting University of Illinois in a spring match held at Cardinal Arena.
Although the teams used unlimited subs, unlimited timeouts and some other unorthodox tweaks of the rules, the match was competitive in front of a highly appreciative crowd of 500 plus.
It was a busy day of Cardinal Athletics, with softball, baseball, track and field, field hockey, tennis and the spring football game that drew a crowd of 33,000, were all underway. The weekend came on the heels of the National Championship Celebration for the men's basketball team's National Championship, the women's basketball Final Four and National Champion swimmer Joao De Lucca that was held on Wednesday for a crowd of 22,000 at the KFC Yum! Center.
