Entering my junior season at Louisville, it's safe to say that I have never been so excited for our season to get underway. This year, with plenty of new faces and a great leadership core, we are sure to turn heads and let the lacrosse world know who we are and what we are about to set out and accomplish. Countless months of preparation and our season is finally here; 1-0 to be exact, after Sunday's home opener win against Canisius.
In preparation for this weekend's match up against Ohio State (HOME SATURDAY, 2 p.m. UofL Lacrosse Stadium), we have a few things on the agenda.
Watching video will take precedence. This year, we have started to use the Go Pro Camera. It's a small camera that can be placed on the top cross bar of the goal to get a good view of the 8 meter or on the fence about 30 yards back to have a larger span of the field.
Not only do we have a better angle of the field, the sound pick up on the camera is incredible. Clearly catching how we can keep practice light with the different accents that we tend to speak in. Junior Midfielder Colleen O'Malley is currently behind the new wave of accent that has caught on to the entire team. The lacrosse team has now gone southern- catch us on the next episode of Duck Dynasty. Yet most importantly the go pro picks up the communication needed in certain plays in order to have a cohesive attack and a dynamic defense.
From the start of preseason to now the addition of this type of film has given us an edge that we haven't had before, visually learning from our mistakes in practice to then engrave in our head the changes that need to be made.
Stay tuned to see what the laxers have been up to in my next installment!
