LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lauren Kelly has experienced more team success in three years at the high school level than many achieve in their four-year careers.
The University of Louisville women's lacrosse signee has been a part of a state championship team for the last three seasons. As a two-sport athlete at The Blake School, she helped guide her lacrosse team to consecutive state titles in 2012 and 2013.
Individually, the Coon Rapids, Minn., native was named to the all-Metro and all-state teams for lacrosse in 2013 and has earned captain honors for the 2014 season.
"Lauren is explosive and determined," head coach Kellie Young said. "In her years as a Cardinal, she will match up against our opponents' top attackers and use her focus and athleticism to limit their looks."
Kelly also plays soccer, where she has been a two-year all-state honoree and a three-year all-conference selection. She directed the team to the state title in 2011 and helped them finish as state runners-up in 2012 and 2013, the year she was named to the all-tournament team and served as a captain.
"I like the intensity level and the amount of care the staff showed toward each player as a person on the team," Kelly, a member of the Minnesota Elite club lacrosse team, said. "I feel each member of the staff cares about me individually as a lacrosse player and also as a student."
