LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's lacrosse head coach Kellie Young released on Wednesday the Cardinals' 2014 schedule, highlighted by six home games and contests against six teams that reached last year's NCAA Tournament.
"The team is poised and ready to take on the challenges ahead in our 2014 schedule," Young said. "We maintain our rivalries with regional powers Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, while looking forward to our final BIG EAST battles with the likes of Georgetown, Connecticut, and Rutgers.
"There is great opportunity ahead for our program and we are preparing everyday to attack our schedule game by game."

Louisville begins seventh season in school history and its 17-game schedule on Feb. 9 against Duke in Durham, N.C. The Blue Devils, who finished No. 7 in the final coaches' poll, went 10-6 a season ago and reached the Elite Eight.
The Cardinals then play in their first home game of the year, taking on Detroit Mercy on Feb. 16 at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium. Louisville won last year's matchup 19-2, with Nikki Boltja scoring five goals in the victory. Six other players, including Kaylin Morissette, scored two goals apiece.
Six of Louisville's next seven games come on the road, facing Old Dominion on Feb. 21 and then William & Mary two days later on Feb. 23. The Cardinals then endure a tough stretch of road games versus Ohio State (March 4), Notre Dame (March 8), and Canisius (March 12). The Fighting Irish and Griffs each reached the NCAA Tournament, with Canisius winning its conference tournament championship last season.
The Cardinals' lone home game during that stretch takes place on March 1 against Denver. The Pioneers went 18-3 in 2013, including a win over Louisville in March of last season, and reached the Sweet 16.
Louisville's third home game of the year falls on March 15 against Drexel, a team the Cardinals edged 9-8 on the road last year. Morissette scored three-consecutive goals to open the game, and Colleen O'Malley tallied the game-winner with 10:39 remaining in the contest.
After a quick stint at home, the Cardinals endure their longest road stretch of the season with five-consecutive contests away from Louisville.
Louisville heads to Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., for a March 19 meeting. Ten days later, Louisville takes on Georgetown to open BIG EAST play on March 29 in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas, who competed with Louisville in the BIG EAST last season, reached the Sweet 16 last season and posted a 13-6 record.
The Cardinals wrap up the road trip with stops at league foes Cincinnati (April 6), Temple (April 11), and Villanova (April 13).
To finish the regular season, Louisville plays host to 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Connecticut on April 17, Rutgers on April 19, and then Marquette on April 24. The Cardinals defeated both Rutgers and Marquette last season, but dropped a close road battle to Connecticut 12-11.
The BIG EAST Tournament, which will be hosted by Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., begins on May 1 with a pair of semifinal matches and the title game will be held on May 3. All games will be played at the Multi-Sport Field on Georgetown's campus.
