Introducing Women's Lacrosse's Casey Madura

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Evident by her prep career, Casey Madura is used to playing an important role on championship-caliber teams.
The highly decorated defender from Chatham High in New Jersey, under coaches Hilary Renna and Christine Cavallo, has played three years of lacrosse at the varsity level with plenty to show.
Selected as captain for her senior season, she was an integral part of in helping her team capture the New Jersey Group II girl's lacrosse state championships in 2011 and 2012. Madura directed her team to the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference title each of those years, and in 2012, Chatham won the Morris County crown.
"Casey is steady and reliable, two essentials for a great defender," head coach Kellie Young said. "She promises to impact our line defense with her consistent play and leadership from the crease."
The success in 2012 continued with Madura's squad finishing as a finalist in the 2012 New Jersey Tournament of Champions, and the group was named the Daily Record's 2012 Team of the Year.
In addition to excelling on the field, Madura earned the 2013 Bell Award for outstanding academic achievement.
Outside of her high school team, Madura has been a member of the Building Blocks Lacrosse club team.
"I like how personable and supportive they are," Madura said of the coaching staff. "Yet, they still push you to be the best you can. I really admire their motivation and just pure love for coaching."
Madura also has earned three varsity letters from soccer, serving as a team captain.
One of two children, she is the daughter of Michael and Jan Madura. Michael played collegiate lacrosse at Ithaca.
