
Swimming Completes Day 2 at Top Ranked Michigan Open

The Cardinals won seven races during the Day 2 finals at the Michigan Open Saturday night at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The evening started out with the 200-medley relay and the Cardinals put up a second place time of 1:39.04 posted by Krissie Brandenburg (25.09), Andrea Cottrell (27.70), Kelsi Worrell 23.60 and Rachael Lewis (22.65).
The men also finished second in the 200-medley relay, with Evan Noble (22.12), Brennen Berger (24.82), Pedro Coutinho (21.42) and Caryle Blondell (19.20) posting a 1:27.56.
In the 400-IM, Abigail Chin shaved three seconds off her prelim time to post the winning time of 4:15.83. Carly Munchel was third, going 4:20.93.
The Cardinal men's top finish was a third place by Ryan Massey, who posted a 3:52.74 and Bret MacKenzie's fourth place finish of 3:56.15.
In the 100-fly, the Cardinals took three of the top four slots led by Devon Bibault's win in 54.50. Mary Mittel was second in 55.67 and Emma Coakley was fourth in 56.03.
In the men's 100-fly, U of L's Aaron Young was second with a time of 46.76, just ahead of teammate Pedro Coutinho's 47.52. Mihael Vukic was fifth in 48.73.
In the 200-free, Abigail Houck took first, boarding a 1:47.88, with Devon Bibault right behind her in 1:49.70 and Tanja Kylliainen completed the 1-2-3 sweep with a 1:49.87.
The men's 200-free was won by Cardinals Ruben Izarra's 1:39.73 with Trevor Carroll taking second in 1:38.08.
The Cardinal women took the top three spots in the 200-breast, led by winner Andrea Cottrell's 1:01.17. Gisselle Kohoyda was second in 1:02.86. Lucy Kramer was third in 1:03.69. The men went first and third, Kameron Chastain touched first in 54.31. Addison Bray was third in 55.00. In the 100-backstroke, U of L swept the top three spots led by Mackenzie Buss's 54.10, Krissie Brandenburg went 54.34 and Erica Belcher completed the sweep with a 56.70.
In the men's 100-backstroke, Nicholas Hasemann was second in 48.03, Aaron Young was fourth in 48.45, Evan Noble was fifth in 48.45 and Aaron Green was sixth in 48.70. Caryle Blondell was seventh with a 49.60 and Ryan Massey was 8th in 50.22.
In the 800 free relay, the foursome of Abigail Houck (1:50.52), Kelsi Worrell (1:48.23), Tanja Kylliainen 1:49.11 and Andrea Kneppers (1:47.31) posted a first place time of 7:15.17. The men's 800-free relay team finished second as Joao De Lucca (1:33.34), Trevor Carroll (1:37.47), Ruben Izarra (1:37.29)and anchor Thomas Dahlia went 1:37.72 to post a 6:25.82.
