
Men's Tennis Continues Early Season Success at FAU Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team continued its early season success with nine wins on day two of the Florida Atlantic Invitational Saturday.
"We went 9-2 today which is a solid effort," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "It was mostly against Radford who happened to be in our NCAA Tournament Regional last Spring. I am pleased with Sebastian and Jeff who won singles and doubles."
The Cards swept the `A' singles against Radford. Sophomore Sebastian Stiefelmeyer cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Nicholas Sayer. Sophomore Chris Simich defeated Thomas Dehaen 6-0, 6-0 and freshman Alex Gornet beat Joe Mills 1-6, 6-1, 10-4. The sweep continued in `B' singles when freshman Michael Lippens registered a 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Jeffrey Brown topped Randall Carter 6-1, 6-2 and Van Damrongsri defeated Javier Waase 6-0, 6-1.
Louisville lost two 'B' singles matches to Indiana.
In doubles action, Stiefelmeyer and freshman Austin Siegel teamed to beat Sayer and Thomas Dehaen 8-1. The duo of sophomores Albert Wagner and Luis Elizondo rolled to an 8-0 victory over Carter and Waase. Brown and junior Amaury Derognat defeated Mills and O'Keefe 8-4.
