LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Each week, UofLsports.com will unveil one member from the University of Louisville women's lacrosse's 2012-13 recruiting class. This week, Massachusetts native Erika Eipp is in the spotlight.
"It is hard to define what Erika will do for Louisville lacrosse," head coach Kellie Young said. "Her passion for the game and commitment to excellence are a rare find in high school athletes. She will be the player fans come to watch, all along being humble and hungry. She will be a lacrosse player in all the best ways."
A lacrosse standout, Eipp played her freshman year at Westhill High in Syracuse, N.Y., where she earned all-league honorable mention accolades. An offensive threat, she finished the season with 34 goals and 20 assists.
Eipp then moved on to play her final three seasons at Groton-Dunstable High under coach Rich Mitchell in Groton, Mass. As a senior, the three-sport athlete accumulated a wealth of accolades. Eipp was named first team all-league in lacrosse and team MVP after leading central Massachusetts in goals with 120, while also tallying 40 assists. Additionally, she was named to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and Lowell Sun All-Star teams, and was named the 2012 Nashoba Publishing Female Athlete of the Year. Eipp capped her three-year lacrosse career as the school's all-time career leading scorer and set the school's single-game lacrosse record for points with nine (seven goals, two assists). She was named all-league in field hockey and basketball as well as a Lowell Sun field hockey All-Star.
In her two previous years at Groton-Dunstable, she experienced similar success. She was named first team all-league in lacrosse and was named team and league MVP. Both years, she was her team's and central Massachusetts' leading scorer, registering a combined 188 goals. Also, she was twice a Worcester Telegram & Gazette and Lowell Sun All-Star selection. In field hockey, she was named second team all-league in 2010 and a first-team selection a season later.
Outside of prep career, Eipp was a member of the 2012 Revolution Black lacrosse team.
Her brother, Daniel, plays for the Harvard lacrosse and is a member of the 2012 U.S. U-19 men's lacrosse team.
